Description
Photograph of the intersection of Spring and First Streets in Los Angeles, ca.1931. The largest building in the picture is the Hotel Nadeau, located at the center of the image. The large romanesque building has four stories, including a lower one composed of awning-covered shops. The Los Angeles Times Building later occupied this location. There are two other buildings, one at the right and one at the left, and both are two story buildings. The streets are occupied by an assortment of pedestrians and cars. In the foreground is a park, with a manicured lawn and small bushes. There are two men in the park, one walking along its broad path and the other doing landscaping. Legible signs include, from left to right, "[...]nter Pharmacy", "Ye Old Curio Store", "Nadeau Hotel", "The Western [Mis]fit Clothing House", "Gem Razors", "Inge[...] Watches [...]", "Smity Pocket Books", "Mille[r]", "Dentist", and "Cigars United Cigars".
