Photograph of a large group of people tobogganing at Big Pines mountain camp, ca.1930. In the foreground, a group of people stand around in the snow. To their right, two people stand beside an upright toboggan. At center, people of all ages walk about, some dragging toboggans, others riding them, and some without. In the distance is a large crowd, in the middle of which is a small snow-covered cabin and what appears to be a snow sculpture with crown-like embellishments on its head. Behind all this is a snowy bank and a thick forest area.

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
