Description
Photograph of a swimmer leaping off a diving tower in Exposition Park in front of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, ca.1932. The female diver takes center, donning a light-colored swim cap and leaping off the second of a four-story diving structure. She dives with her hands spread wide, feet close together. Behind her is a diving tower that has two parallel diving boards at its base, a large diving platform at its second level, another on a third level to the right, and still another on a fourth higher level. Two people make their way up to the fourth level from a stair on the left of the second level. The pool water lies below. To the right of the pool is a grandstand, while behind the dive tower is a fenced area where several spectators stand. Behind the pool, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum can be seen, a large rounded concrete structure lined with stadium lamps.

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
