Description
Photograph of Westlake Park (later MacArthur Park), ca.1900. Three palms and two trees are in the foreground near the shore of the lake. Rocks and small boulders line the shore. To the left (in the foreground), there is a gazebo with a miniature model of a sailboat sitting on top of the tower's crest. In the lake, there are three rowboats and one sailboat, all with occupants. Beyond the lake, on the left, there is a pole standing almost 50 feet tall with ladder rungs leading up to about midway. Near a small cottage (at center), there is a line of benches overlooking the shore. Also near the shore are a few buildings including a boat house. Beyond the lake area, there are many houses.
