Photograph of a mountain climbing group, ca.1930. A group of men and women in rugged clothes are posing while either standing or sitting down on large rectangular rocks. A man can be seen sitting on an elevated pile of rocks. It appears that they are positioned on the top of a mountain from where a panoramic view of a mountain range can be seen in the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
