Photographic portrait of people in front of Sackett Store, Post Office, and Hotel on the southwest corner of Cahuenga Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard, March 18, 1899. Eight women and three men are standing in a group at center. Two men and two women are on bicycles. There is a dog in front of the group at right, and a horse is tied to a hitching post at right. The store is behind them and is housed in a large, two-story Victorian building. A tall eucalyptus tree blocks the view of the second story of the building.; Legible signs include, from left to right, "Bargains in Dry Goods Underwear Hats Boots", "Hollywood", "Post Office", "Hardware", "H. D. Sackett" and "Teas, coffee & Spices".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
