Description
Photograph of an aerial view over Hollywood and the Windsor Square, 1918. The neighborhoods in the foreground are newly developed--only a few houses have been built on the generously-sized blocks. There is a large open field at the center of the image. The right and top sides of the image are filled with dense buildings, most of which appear to be houses. Windsor Square is now (2013) a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, and its boundaries are Beverly Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard (north and south, respectively), Van Ness and Rossmore (east and west, respectively). The diagonal east/west street below what is probably Wilshire might be 8th Street, with the slightly curvacious east/west line below that being 9th Street.
