Photograph of California Botanic Gardens, showing men on dirt path, [s.d.]. In the foreground at center, a small dirt road can be seen curving into the background at left. Small plants and leaves cover both sides of the road. In the background along the center of the road, four men can be seen standing. To the right of the men, a tall wall of tangled shrubs and trees are visible. A cluster of small trees can be seen at left. In the extreme background at center, a hillside covered in vegetation is visible.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
