Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Pacific Coast Club in Long Beach, ca.1930. A building that has architecture similar to that of a medieval castle can be seen at center. It is two-stories tall and has a sloped roof with a pointed tower at right. Foliage can be seen on the corner to the left of center, while a street runs in front of the building at right. At least five automobiles are parked on the side of the street, while a tall building looms over the club in the left background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
