Description
Photograph of an exterior view of four buildings housing Space Technology Laboratories, the Ramo-Wooldridge Corporation, Air Force Ballistic Missile Division (ARDC), and the Ballistic Missile Office of the Air Materiel Command, July 30, 1957. The STL complex location is on Arbor Vitae Street between Airport and Aviation, Inglewood. A street can barely be seen across the foreground with a row of long, short buildings along its far side. Trees and bushes sit in the yards in front of the buildings. Several security lights shine on the exterior walls. Other lights shine through the windows from the interior.; Photoprint reads: "Space Technology Laboratories -- These four modern structures house the nerve centers of Space Technology Laboratories, The Ramo-Wooldridge Corporation as well as serving as headquarters for the Air Force Ballistic Missile Division (ARDC) and the Ballistic Missile Office of the Air Material Command. In acting as a technical staff for the Air Force in connection with its ballistic missile program, STL has systems engineering and technical direction responsibility for Atlas, Titan and Thor weapons systems. The STL complex is located on Arbor Vitae Street between Airport and Aviation in Inglewood."

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
