Description
Photograph of the exterior view of the Polytechnic High School, Washington Street between Hope Street and Flower Street, Los Angeles, ca.1910. The principally three-story stone Greek-revival building has a grand portico entrance at the head of a broad set of stairs. Six ionic columns support a wide pediment. Inside the pediment are leafy ornamental moldings with a seal containing the year "1905". The façade of the adjacent building (probably adjoined) has similar features as the main building; however there are no entrances or stairs leading to an entrance. Furthermore, unlike the main building, this building has a dome roof. The roof of the main building is flat. The street in front is wet and muddy. Utility poles and lines are visible overhead.
