Photograph of a birdseye view of Fifth Street looking west towards Broadway, ca.1952. Fifth Street, a paved, four-lane, one-way street, runs from the foreground to the background at center. Many automobiles and delivery trucks can be seen on the street, and pedestrians are visible on the sidewalks that line the road. Tall buildings can be seen on both sides of the road.; Legible signs include, from left: "Jewelry Traders", "Pershing Square Bldg", "Auditorium Bldg.", and "Chester Williams".

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
