Description
Photograph of a view of Main Street looking south from Pico House, ca.1874. The Fashion Livery Stable is visible prominently along the right hand side of the street, with more commercial shops following to the left towards the end of the street. Houses are visible behind it and in the distance to the far right along the hillside. Horse-drawn streetcar tracks are visible in the unpaved road and the plank tops of other buildings can be seen partially to the left. Several muddy puddles stand along the center of the road. Other legible shop signs include: "Lafayette's Store / [...] Gent's / Furnishing Goods / Provisions".
