Photograph of a view of Westwood Village looking north from Wilshire Boulevard, October 1, 1935. At center is a wide paved road divided by a grassy median. A row of palm trees grows along the median. At right is a large mission-style building housing a Ralph's market. A tall, light colored tower is visible in front of the market, and a similar tower can be seen in the distance at center. More mission-style buildings with terracotta tile roofs can be seen in the background at left. A stoplight is visible in the foreground at right, and an illegible sign is hung from a streetlight nearby.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
