Photograph of automobiles fording a stream on a canyon road north of Pasadena, ca.1925. An automobile can be seen from behind driving through a stream on a dirt road running towards the background. A second automobile can be seen on the road towards the background. Two people can be seen standing in the shadows at left. Boulders can be seen in the stream, while trees and foliage are visible throughout and into the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
