Description
Photograph of an external view of an adobe house, "built 1873 by Senora Magdelana Cocia (?)", in Sonora town on the east side of Castelar Street, between Ord Street and Alpine Street, 1895. The single-story house appears to be in poor condition. The stucco is peeling from the worn and chipped adobe bricks that form the walls. The shingled roof is uneven and some of the shingles have fallen off. The wood that makes up the gable on the side of the house (left) is uneven and falling apart. The wooden window screens are cracked or have missing parts to them. One window, next to the left door, is boarded up. At left, there is a wooden fence and a door that leads into the yard. Two children (center) stand in front of the door and their mom can be seen peering out. Two other children can be seen standing at the last door (right). Above them is a chimney situated on the inclined roof. A utility pole on the sidewalk near the last door and one in the distance has been edited out. Tracks can be seen on the dirt road.
