Description
Photograph of a San Pedro palm being brought to Fifth Street and Central Avenue for depot, 1889. To the left seven men, some with tools, attend an approximately thirty-foot tall palm tree, its roots secured in a crate from which support wires extend to the top of the trunk. To their right is a group of onlookers comprised of eight men and one woman, who is standing on the porch of a building whose side reads, "Wolfskill Lots for sale / Branch Office Los Angeles Land Bureau. / Easton, Eldridge & Co. Geo. W. Frink, President / 20 W. First St." A picture of a flag underneath reads "Wolfskill / Tract / at Private Sale". Other legible signs include one on the two-chimneyed building to the left and back of the palm which reads "John Weiland's Lager Beer".
