Description
Photograph of a celebration for opening day of the Pacific Electric line or of the new pier and pavilion at the Long Beach Pier, ca.1900-1902. Throngs of people crowd the street and pier which reaches out into the ocean toward a steamship. Rail tracks are visible in the street with electric lines directly above. Many American flags are waving. Legible signs include: "Grand ocean excursion in the steamship Hermosa to yacht and launch races, breakwater and night parade, H. Browne, agt."
