Photograph of a birdseye view of a street in Long Beach showing a dance studio, restaurant, and theatre, ca.1925. The street runs from the foreground at left into the distance at center. It is a wide paved road with railroad tracks in the middle. It is lined with an assortment of large buildings, including a skyscraper at right. In the foreground at left is a field lined with palm trees. Several early-model automobiles can be seen on the road.; Legible signs include, from left to right: "Metropolitan Building", "California National Bank", "Heartwell Bldg", "The Holder Studios Instructors in Music Art Dancing", "Pekin Café Chop Suey", "Hoyt's Theatre", and "Cigars Candy".

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
