Description
Photograph of crowds of people at the opening of a new pier in Long Beach, November 12, 1904. People stand shoulder to shoulder on the roof of a building at left, which takes up roughly three-quarters of the image. They are mostly police officers and other uniformed men, although civilians are also in attendance. To the right, beyond the edge of the roof, still more crowds can be seen on the ground below. American flags are displayed in various places throughout. What appear to be tenement buildings are visible in the background.
