Description
Photograph of a streetcar trailing a horse, Monrovia, Los Angeles, ca.1890. A group of men sit along the benches in a streetcar, while two stand on the running boards at the back, one of whom appears to be African-American. A horse has been loaded into a cart and hitched to the front of the car. A man stands next to it and props his arm along the rail, posing. Shopfronts can be seen in the background on which the legible signs include: "Real Estate and Insurance", "[...]A Meat Market", "Property Bought and Sold" and "Paints Oils [...]". The sign on the side of the horse's cart reads "A.E. Crone[...]tt. Leading [...]ler. Monrovia, [...]SA."
