Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Building, ca.1907. The six-story building can be seen on a street corner at center. It is a light-colored rectangular building with a flat roof. Striped cloth awnings can be seen around the building on the first floor, and several windows on the upper floors at left have awnings as well. A row of smaller buildings can be seen at left, and a two-story structure is at right. An unpaved road is visible in the foreground, and several horse-drawn vehicles can be seen traveling on it.; Legible signs include, from left: "Cut Glass China Crockery", "Bank", "and "American Bank & Trust Company".

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
