Description
Photograph of a view of Pine Avenue, Long Beach, 1910. A streetcar can be seen on the road at center. Streetcar lines criss cross above the street throughout. A road runs across the foreground from left to right, while a second road runs from the foreground into the background. Buildings, some with awnings, can be seen on both sides of the road. Automobiles can be seen parked on both sides of the road. Legible signs, from left to right, include: "Drugs", "Drugs", "Long Beach [...]", "[...] Ave", "The [...]", "Del[...]", "Hilton & Mount Real Estate", and "[...] Real Es[...]".

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
