Description

Photograph of an exterior view of a wing of the Ambassador Hotel, ca.1920-1920. A walkway shaded by a wooden platform overhead extends from the center foreground to the left distance. Flowers, bushes and trees surround the columns that support the overhead platform. Behind the trees lies a manicured yard. The large hotel buildings stand behind the yard in the right background.; Originally, the image was captioned as "Huntington Hotel, ca.1900". See also CHS-43828.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
