Description
Photograph of Brand Boulevard from above in Glendale, California, 1923. Automobiles are parked door-to-door along the sidewalk at the left side of the four-lane street. On the left side, an early pickup truck and other cars drive towards the camera, with others driving away on the right. A cable car comes toward the camera underneath its cable-poles which are evenly spaced along the center of the street. Highrises line the boulevard to either side. Legible signs include: "Reality Dietric[...]", "Glendale Phonograph Co. / Brunswick Pianos", "Glendale Theatre", "5 Acts Vaudville" and "Cent[...]". A flag waves from a flagpole on top of a highrise at left. Additional information: The movie "The Social Code" with viola Dana was released in October 1923.
