Description
Photograph of a painting depicting a dying scout and his companions, ca.1900. The scout, lying down on the grass waving his right arm in the air, stares blankly into the sky. A companion holds him up from behind. The scout's shirt is torn and his pistol lies on the floor next to him. Four other men, two of them standing near their horses, observe with sad expressions on their face. The name on the painting, G.A. Mag, has been edited out from the photograph negative.
