Description
Photograph of a view of commercial Sixth Street near Grand Avenue, looking east, showing automobiles and streetcar tracks, ca.1920. The paved lanes of Sixth Street, striped with streetcar tracks, run through the center of the image. Parked automobiles line the right side of the street, while other automobiles drive along the left. Both sides of the street are lined by commercial buildings, primarily highrises. A few pedestrians walk along the paved sidewalks in front of the buildings. Legible signs, from left to right, include: "Hotel [?] 45 [?] 2.50", "Pacific Coast Buyers & Sellers Exchange", "[?] Hotel", "[Spark]letts Bottled Water [?] Healthful", "Union Leader", "New China Chop Suey", "Hotel Savoy. Absolutely Fireproof. [Ev]ery Room With Bath", "Hotel", "Laundry", "Carl's Auto Park. 722 W 6th", "Famous Food 5 cents", and "Morris the Tailor".
