Description
Photograph of Mission San Gabriel east entrance looking southwest, with an adjoining brick wall, ca.1884. In this area shown in the image, the first bell tower was attached but later destroyed by an earthquake in 1803. In the background at right, a crudely constructed stone wall can be seen attached to the mission at left. The entrance to the mission can be seen with three small windows directly above. The rectangular body of the mission can be seen extending into the background at right. In the extreme background at left, a wooden rail fence and another building are visible. Also visible are scattered trees and brush.
