Description

Photograph of an aerial view of Rosemont Elementary School, March 16, 1925. Wide, dark trees obstruct the view of a two-story building at center which presents a flag above its entrance. Smaller buildings stand to the left of the building while a large building with an arched entrance stands on the right. Two roads intersect in the foreground just in front of the first building with a cafe on the left and an open field on the right. A large field riddled with dirt holes lies in the background. Photoprint reads: "Spence Airplane Photos, 725 Marsh Strong Bldg., Vandike 8811, Duakirk 3269".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
