Description
Photograph of drawing depicting the Sierra Madre Villa Hotel in Sierra Madre, ca.1880. The two-story hotel can be seen at the base of a steep mountain range at center. It is a light-colored building with a dark roof. A covered porch runs along the front of the building at center and right, while a cupola can be seen on the roof at left. A large orchard full of small trees is visible in the foreground. Taller trees are visible behind the hotel at right.; Photoprint reads: "on the 'Grand Round,' the carriage drive continued to Pasadena and then east and north to the foothills with a stop for lunch at the Sierra Madre Villa. The villa was famous for its lavish table, with wild game a [sic] specialty. It was a noted resort for invalids. Drawing was made in the 1880's from a photograph."
