Description
Photograph of a woman worker sealing honey jars with beeswax, ca.1930. An elderly lady sits to the left of center wearing a lightly colored dress, a bonnet, a pearl necklace and round glasses with dark shows. The woman places her hands over a pot to the right of center while holding a round jar in her hands. Identical jars can be seen stacked behind her to the left and spread out over a table cloth on the left. A second woman sits in the right background facing the left side while she uses her right hand to place a jar into a metal device.

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
