Description Photograph of a tractor in use at an industrial site, [s.d.]. A man in work clothes, tall boots and a hat operates a tractor at center. The front of the tractor has large spools of thick wire which unravels and extends to the right foreground. A box sits in the dirt yard over his left shoulder while an electrical pole stands over his right shoulder. A cylindrical tank stands in the background on the left with the rest of the factory on the right. Tall, metal towers are scattered across the field into the distance.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
