Description
Photograph of group portrait in front of arched entryway of Big Pines camp, [s.d.]. In the extreme foreground at center, a group of seven men can be seen posing for the camera. The two men to the left, the man at center, and the second man from the right all can be seen wearing similar collared shirts, long pants, wide-brimmed hats, and high boots. The man at left wears a bowtie, the man at center wears a regular tie, and the other two men show open collars. To the left and right of the man at center, two men wearing full suits can be seen. The man on the left wears glasses and holds a hat in his hands. To the far right, a man wearing a striped vest, bowtie, and high boots can be seen. In the background at center, a large stone archway flanked by two columns with parapets can be seen. Small rectangular windows can be seen near the top of the columns, and rectangular panels are also visible near the bases. Across the arch, a large sign is visible that reads: "Big Pines--L.A. County Camp". At the center of the arch, a small sign reads: "1926". A man is visible underneath the arch, and two other individuals can be seen near the right column.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
