Description

Photograph of a park and fountain in Beverly Hills, [s.d.]. A covered walkway is visible in the foregrond at left. Vines grow up the posts that support the overhang and on the overhang itself. Stone benches line the walkway at left. A large fountain can be seen at right. The basin of the fountain is supported by statues of kneeling men. Automobiles can be seen driving on a road in the background at right.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
