Photograph of a view of the steamship S.S. Cabrillo docked in Avalon Harbor, ca.1907. The large steamer is at center and is moored alongside a wooden pier. The city of Avalon is at right, and a large number of buildings, including the massive Hotel Metropole, can be seen. Many small sailing vessels can be seen in the harbor at left, while large mountains surround the city and the harbor. A dense forest can be seen at the base of the hills at right.

Title California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960

Description The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
