Photograph of an aerial view of the Columbia Steel Corporation, ca.1925. A rectangular plot of land composed of long buildings can be seen in the center. A sign on the building in the center reads, "Columbia Steel Company Subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation". Railroad tracks run along the building on the right while curving in front of the buildings and entering a edifice on the left. Plots of land containing houses and open space can be seen in the front while large fields are visible in the back.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
