Description
Photograph of the interior of a Chinese doctor's office and drug store, ca. 1900. Three men sit beside a small round table against a wall. Three empty chairs are to their right. A mirror over the table reflects men presumably watching the photographer (not visible). Hanging from the wall are seven placards written in Chinese. At left is a bank of shelves holding row upon row of metal canisters. Adjacent to this shelf, hanging on the wall is a picture of a person and a wall calendar. A work table at right bears implements such as mortar and pestle, bowls, etc. In the corner of the room behind one of the men is a doorway with a sign over it reading "Consultation room".
