Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Illinois-Pacific Glass Company, ca.1930. A field covered in snow and sparse weeds is visible in the foreground while cars are parked along the road in back of the field. A long building can be seen In the center with the face on the right side and the body extending to the left. The brick façade forms a graduated triangle shape on the top with steps on both sides of the two faces. A sign that reads "Illinois Pacific Glass Corp." sits on top of the triangular roof atrium that is composed of windows on the sides.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
