Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Associated Meat Company, ca.1925. To the right of center, a brick building with "Associated Meat Co. of California" written on the side sits at the end of a large paved space with cars parked towards the buildings. To the left, two lightly colored smaller buildings stand in front of a water tower and an elevated platform. The buildings have two main entryways that read "Laundry" and "Engine Room". Two smokestacks protrude out of the buildings to the left while three wires extend out of the buildings and off the image to the right of center.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
