Description
Photograph of workers in an olive factory, ca.1920. A rectangular vat of olives sits in the center with women in rows on both sides. The women hold olives in their hands while trays of metal cans sit in front of them and on top of the vat. Trays of olives can be seen in the right foreground and along the vat. Three windows can be seen in the background with light streaming in next to paneled walls while women can be seen in the left background.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
