Description

Photograph of a Christmas tree in front of the Beverly Hills residence of A. E. McManus, December 26, 1930. The small pine tree can be seen at center and is decorated with many small lights. A two-story Tudor-style house can be seen in the background. Its walls are made of brick, and a wooden balcony can be seen at right. Several bushes and hedges can be seen around the home. At left, a gate leads into the back yard.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
