Photograph of two men operating a tractor at an industrial site, [s.d.]. One man sits on the tractor on the left facing a building on the right. A thick wire extends from large spools at the front of the tractor to the second man who stands on the platform on the right. An automobile is parked in front of the platform on the far right with boxes and other pieces of machinery scattered across the dirt around it. Tall, metal towers stand in the background on the left with clouds of smoke rising in front of them.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
