Photograph of Pacoima Dam, showing the backside of the dam, January 4, 1927. A dark figure can be seen in the foreground with the back of the damn behind it at center. Two walkways can be seen along the damn wall while another can be seen along the rock wall at right. A metal tower stands in front of the damn at center with metal pieces reaching in front of its top.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
