Description
Photograph of the Pacific Gypsum Tile Company plant showing Southern Pacific tracks, 1925. A street lies across the foreground while a second street extends from the left foreground to the right background. Electrical poles line the second street with the large factory behind them at center. Lightly-colored stacks of boxes surround one of the long buildings of the plant. A second building stands in a clear field behind the first. A row of evergreen trees separates those buildings from others which stand at the foot of hills int he background.

Title
Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
