Description
Photograph of Southern California Edison transmission lines, March 4, 1923. To the left of center, a transmission tower stands on a grassy field with three thick wires extending out of the top. The wires stretch through the sky into the right foreground and connect to another tower in the left background. An identical tower sits to the right. Transmission towers and connecting wires can be seen extending into the background as well as to the left and right.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
