Photograph of an exterior view of the California Milling Corporation, ca.1935. Brick buildings of varying sizes line a street in the foreground. To the right of center, a man bends over in front of a smoking garbage can and a pile of construction refuse. To the right of center, a tall brick building can be seen in the background while a large edifice seems to extend out of buildings on the left. This building is labeled "California Milling Corp. Flour Feed Grain" on one side and "Ace Hi Flour & Feed" on the front.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
