Description

Photograph of the exterior of the Thermador Electrical Manufacturing Company, 1953. A paved road is visible in the foreground with "xing" written in big white letters in the right foreground. A plain building stands behind the road with two trucks waiting in the loading position at the back of the building. A sign to the left of center reads, " Thermador Shipping & Receiving". A large door in the center is open while two similar doors are closed to the left and right. Back of photograph reads, "Shipping and receiving dock at back of building."

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
