Description

Photograph of the interior of the Thermador Electrical Manufacturing Company, 1953. In the center, a lightly colored rectangular box sits on a tiled floor. The box has a door on the right side and seems to have a second thick door on the left. To the right, there is a tall metallic box with a long thick door and what seems to be a ventilation system on the bottom. A darkly colored device is attached to the right while a complicated piece of machinery sits to the left. The wall behind the objects is a barren brick wall. The back of the photo reads, "3. Environmental testing equipment in laboratory".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
