Description
Photograph of birdseye view of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company factory, showing surrounding residential area, 1936. At center, the company complex of buildings is separated into four main sections. The two widest sections are connected by three thin partitions to the left, while a section that is narrower by about half is seen at the far right. Behind the leftmost section, the fourth section stands perpendicular to the rest. In the background, the city can be seen full of residential buildings.; It's possible that this is a photograph of a factory built by the Goodyear in 1919-1920 in Los Angeles on Central Avenue, around 66th Street. It opened in 1920 and closed in 1977. In 1988 the building was supposed to have been converted to a post office facility.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
