Title The Panama Canal, showing a large industrial factory in the background, [s.d.]
Description Photograph of the Panama Canal, showing a large industrial factory in the background, [s.d.]. In the extreme foreground at left, a man is visible sitting on a small rectangular slab on a hilltop. The man can be seen wearing a wide-brimmed hat and suspenders, and his body is turned towards the background. In the background, a large rectangular building is visible. Small windows line the side of the building, and a sloped roof covers its top. Two large factory pipes can be seen near the top of the structure. In front of the factory building, a small cluster of smaller buildings is also visible. Beyond the factory building, curving railroad lines can be seen moving throughout the canyon. In the extreme background at left, a large group of small buildings can be seen beside the large mountain ridge. The caption at the bottom of the image reads: "The 'Angle' of the Canal Route at Empire, looking towards the Atlantic".
